Bachelor Degree Nursing (BSN)

There’s a tremendous demand for thousands of skilled and higher-educated nurses, but there may not be nearly enough BSN-prepared registered nurses (RNs) to fill the need today. That shortage could increase in the next several years.

This creates a tremendous opportunity for anyone who has a desire to enter the nursing profession and gain more marketability and growth potential for the future by becoming a registered nurse with a baccalaureate degree.

Program Information

The Everest Bachelor of Science in Nursing program* offers the extensive scope of training and higher level of education that many clinical sites prefer today.

In addition to the core nursing instruction, our BSN program includes advanced courses required for leadership and management positions. A BSN also gives graduates the option to pursue a master’s degree in nursing, which is required to pursue advanced practice nursing specialties such as a nurse practitioner.

The Everest BSN Experience

  • New nursing education facilities with the latest tools
  • Instructors with real-world nursing experience
  • Access to the latest nursing education technology, including SMART® Board* interactive whiteboards
  • Career Placement Services
  • Extensive hands-on learning
  • Student Financial Planning (Financial aid available for those who qualify.)

BSN preparedness provides a comprehensive education that helps graduates step into any entry-level nursing role with confidence and skill. It includes the full scope of nursing fundamentals, plus the advanced health care subjects required to earn the bachelor’s degree and prepare you for more complex situations. Built on a strong foundation of general education courses, nursing courses include the following concepts taught across the curriculum in medical-surgical, psychiatric, maternal/child and community health settings:

  • Leadership, quality improvement and patient safety
  • Evidence-based practice in health promotion and disease prevention
  • Nursing informatics and application of patient care technologies
  • Health care policy, finance and regulation
  • Professionalism and professional values
  • Communication and collaboration

A graduating BSN student must pass a state exam to be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse, which is the NCLEX-RN® (The National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses). Our BSN program can help you prepare for this important examination.

What are the Career Opportunities?

The country needs nurses. The job and career prospects for registered nurses, particularly, are excellent (and may be for years) due to a projected critical shortage of RNs. Government statistics indicate hiring should increase by almost 26 percent through 2020. Many nursing career paths, especially those that may lead into management positions, are available only to RNs with a bachelor’s degree. There’s never been a better or more important time to attain the skills, education and degree that employers in the health care industry are looking for right now, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor.**

Nurses make up the largest group of employees in the entire health care industry. The settings and choices are better for RNs with a bachelor’s degree.

Here is a sampling of employment opportunities for registered nurses with a BSN:

  • Doctors’ Offices
  • Education
  • Medical Centers
  • Nursing Homes
  • School Settings
  • Surgery Centers
  • Rehabilitation Clinics
  • Research
  • Urgent Care Centers

*Programs and schedules vary by campus. SMART Boards not available at all campuses.
